The Role
When freight arrives short or damaged, or a truck is involved in an accident, the claim lands with you. You gather the facts fast, bring in the right people and keep the file moving until it is resolved — documented, fair and on time.
It is detail work with real stakes. A clean file, clear timelines and the right evidence are what settle a disputed claim fairly — and what show our safety team where the next one could come from.
What You’ll Do
- Open and manage cargo, accident, property and equipment damage claims from first notice to close
- Gather the evidence — photos, bills of lading, delivery receipts, police reports, ELD data and Samsara camera footage
- Report claims to insurance carriers and work with adjusters through resolution
- Handle cargo claims with shippers, brokers and customers — shortage, damage and loss
- Take statements from drivers and other parties involved
- Track deadlines and every step in a clean claims log
- Work with accounting on payments, deductibles and recoveries
- Share what each claim shows with the safety team so it feeds coaching and prevention
What You Bring
- Claims experience in trucking, transportation or insurance
- Understanding of cargo and auto liability claims
- Organized case management — deadlines do not slip
- Clear, professional writing and phone manner
- Calm with upset customers and firm on the facts
A Plus, Not Required
- Familiarity with trucking operations and FMCSA / DOT rules
- Knowledge of motor carrier cargo liability (the Carmack Amendment)
- Experience using telematics and camera footage as evidence
