The Role
Everyone at Rogue Carrier comes through HR at some point: a new office hire on day one, a driver who needs a business entity set up before orientation, a driver adding a passenger to the truck. You make sure each of those is handled correctly, confidentially and without holding anyone up.
It is a hands-on role. You work with every department we have — recruiting, safety, dispatch and accounting — and you are the person people come to when they are not sure what the rule is.
What You’ll Do
- Handle new-hire paperwork and onboarding for office employees — I-9s, tax forms and policy sign-offs
- Keep personnel files complete, current and confidential
- Set up business entities for drivers who do not have one yet, so their paperwork is ready for orientation
- Process passenger forms and ID for drivers who bring a rider on the road
- Manage office hiring — post openings, screen resumes, schedule interviews and keep candidates informed
- Answer employee questions about company policies and HR procedures
- Work with accounting on new-hire setup and payroll changes
- Keep company policies current and applied the same way to everyone
- Stay on top of federal and Illinois employment and recordkeeping requirements
What You Bring
- Experience in HR, office administration or payroll
- Discretion — you handle confidential information every day
- Organized, detail-oriented and reliable on follow-through
- Clear, patient communication in person and on the phone
- Comfortable with spreadsheets, email and online HR and payroll tools
A Plus, Not Required
- Trucking or transportation industry experience
- Familiarity with 1099 contractor paperwork and business entity setup (LLC, EIN)
- Working knowledge of Illinois employment rules
