Own DOT compliance for a fleet running OTR in all 48 states — driver files, drug and alcohol testing, hours of service, inspections and the safety review every new driver goes through.

The Role
This role is for someone who already knows the FMCSRs and wants to own the work. You keep driver qualification files audit-ready, run the drug and alcohol program, watch hours of service and CSA scores, and follow up on every roadside inspection.
You also stand between recruiting and the road. Every driver application a recruiter completes comes to safety for review — experience, driving record and work history — and applicants expect an answer in about 30 minutes. Doing that review properly, and fast, is a big part of the job.
What You’ll Do
- Run the safety review on new driver applicants — verifiable CDL-A experience, driving record and work history
- Keep driver qualification files complete and audit-ready
- Track CDL, medical card and annual MVR renewals before anything lapses
- Run Clearinghouse queries and manage DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Monitor hours-of-service compliance in Samsara and follow up on violations
- Review roadside inspections, handle corrective action and challenge inaccurate data through DataQs
- Track CSA scores and act on trends early
- Review Samsara safety events and coach drivers one-on-one
- Support accident investigations and keep records ready for audits and insurance reviews
What You Bring
- Hands-on DOT / FMCSA safety and compliance experience at a motor carrier
- Working knowledge of driver qualification, hours-of-service, and drug and alcohol testing rules
- Experience with the FMCSA Clearinghouse and CSA / SMS
- Precise, organized recordkeeping
- Direct, respectful communication with drivers
A Plus, Not Required
- Samsara or another ELD and camera platform
- Tenstreet or a similar driver hiring system
- Experience preparing for a DOT compliance review
