Lead safety for a dry van OTR carrier — DOT compliance, the drug and alcohol program, accident response, driver coaching and the team that runs it.

The Role
This role owns the safety program end to end. You set the standard, lead the safety specialists and claims, and answer for the results: CSA scores, inspection outcomes, audit readiness and how our drivers actually drive.
The tools are already in place — Samsara ELDs and dual-facing cameras in our trucks, and a safety review on every new driver before approval. We need the person who turns that data into fewer incidents and a cleaner record.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop the safety team, including safety specialists and claims
- Keep the company compliant with FMCSA and DOT regulations and ready for a compliance review at any time
- Own the drug and alcohol program, including Clearinghouse reporting and return-to-duty cases
- Monitor CSA / SMS scores and act on any BASIC trending the wrong way
- Lead accident response and investigations, and make preventability determinations
- Turn Samsara safety data into coaching, corrective action and recognition for the safest drivers
- Hold the line on driver qualification standards together with recruiting
- Work with our insurance partners on claims, renewals and loss-control reviews
- Write and update safety policies, and train drivers and staff on them
What You Bring
- Safety leadership experience at a motor carrier
- Deep working knowledge of the FMCSRs — driver qualification, hours of service, drug and alcohol testing, and vehicle maintenance
- Hands-on experience with CSA / SMS, the Clearinghouse and DataQs
- Experience leading accident investigations and working with insurers
- Calm, firm communication with drivers, staff and regulators
A Plus, Not Required
- Experience guiding a carrier through a DOT compliance review
- Samsara or a similar telematics and camera platform
- A transportation safety certification
- Dry van or OTR carrier experience
